2014-15 SITE COUNCIL PARENT REPRESENTATIVE NOMINATIONS
Parent Representatives Kindergarten/Grade 1 and Grade 2/Grade 3
· Parent representative, at the beginning of their term, will have a student at either of the two grades that they are representing.
Parent Representative Grade 4/Grade 5
· Parent representative, at the beginning of their term, will have a student at either of the two grades that they are representing AND
· To fulfill their two year term a newly selected Fifth Grade parent must also have a younger student attending DCES.
Parent Representative Parent at Large
· Parent representative, at the beginning of their term, will have a student who will be at DCES for their two year commitment.

Nomination forms are available from the DCES office (or click here} and must be returned to the DCES office by 3pm, Monday, March 31, 2014. Voting will take place at the April Site Council meeting by current Site Council Parent Representatives.

My name is Jennifer Gandy and I am so pleased that I will be your Registered Nurse beginning March 3. I would like to tell you a little bit about me and my background. I am married and have three children. Our oldest daughter is 26, we have a 21 year old son that is a senior at NAU, and our youngest son is 19 and is a freshman at Scottsdale Community College. I grew up in Scottsdale and graduated from Coronado. I have five dogs, and in my spare time I enjoy going to movies and spending time with my family. If you ever have any concerns or questions, please feel free to call me (480 484-1710) or stop by my office. I look forward to serving you and your family.
It’s time for our 23rd Annual Soap for Hope Drive, March 17th – March 28th
and collect soap items-shampoo, body wash, bar soap, laundry soap, etc.-to donate to our Sister School, Tavan Elementary.
If you are going on vacation this Spring Break, please bring in any unused trial size soaps from your hotel stay. If you go shopping and see a good sale, grab a few bottles of shampoo, body wash, or laundry soap for Tavan.
After break, we will have a basket at the office to collect your donations. The week of March 24th, we will be collecting at the front gate and car line. If you have any household or clothing items other than soap for donations, we can accept them too.
PS: Tavan has a family that recently had a fire and lost everything. For donation pick-up, feel free to email Eva at firstname.lastname@example.org or Gloria at email@example.com. We can also provide you with a donation receipt! Thank you for your help!!

Individual Spring Portraits Are Comingto DCES on Thursday, March 27. Order forms will be sent home with students on March 17th. Students who would like to have their portraits taken are to bring the completed envelope(including payment) with them on picture day.

Registration will begin on Monday, February 24, 2014 for both Summer Camp and next school year Early Bird and Kids Club programs.
Beginning next school year, Kids Club is extending their hours of operation until 6:30 pm!
If your child will be absent for any reason, please call the Desert Canyon Attendance Line (480-484-1700 press 3) before 9:30 am. Your call will be recorded. Please give your child's name, the name of the child's teacher, and the reason for the absence (i.e. illness or personal). To ensure each child's safety, if we do not hear from you, we will call to check on absences.
